Massage Therapy
Prenatal and postpartum massage to ease tension and support recovery.
Registered massage therapy is the manual manipulation of soft tissue — muscle, fascia, and related structures — provided by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). Applied pressure and movement can help reduce muscular tension, ease localized discomfort, and support circulation and mobility. It is used as an adjunct that complements physiotherapy and medical care rather than replacing them.
Prenatal massage during a changing body
During pregnancy, the hormone relaxin increases laxity in the joints of the pelvis and spine, and a forward shift in the centre of gravity alters postural load. These changes commonly contribute to low back, hip, and pelvic girdle discomfort. Prenatal massage, sometimes called pregnancy massage, can help manage this muscular tension and may support comfort and rest.
Positioning is adapted to the trimester and to individual tolerance — often side-lying with pillow support — and pressure and technique are adjusted accordingly. The aim is to help reduce tension and support the musculoskeletal system, not to treat any medical condition of pregnancy.
Postpartum massage during recovery
The postpartum period places sustained demands on the body, including repetitive feeding postures, the physical effects of labour and delivery, and disrupted sleep. Postpartum massage can help address neck, shoulder, and upper-back tension and may support movement and circulation as recovery progresses. Sessions are paced to the individual's stage of recovery.
Care within a physiotherapy-led setting
Each session is provided by a Registered Massage Therapist — a regulated, insured practitioner experienced in working with prenatal and postpartum clients. Because massage therapy is delivered alongside pelvic health physiotherapy and allied care, an RMT can help connect clients with a physiotherapist or other practitioner when signs such as pelvic pain, pressure, or persistent symptoms suggest further assessment would help.
Registered massage therapy is one part of a broader, whole-household approach to care. It works best as an adjunct that supports — and is coordinated with — physiotherapy and medical management.
How This Helps at Every Stage
Fertility & Preconception
Registered massage therapy helps ease the physical tension and stress that often come with trying to conceive, supporting circulation, relaxation, and a calmer nervous system as one part of a broader plan.
During Pregnancy
Pregnancy massage, positioned safely around your growing belly, helps with the low back, hip, and pelvic aches that build through the trimesters, along with swelling and the disrupted sleep that come with them.
Postpartum Recovery
After birth, massage eases the neck, shoulder, and back tension of feeding and carrying, supports tissue recovery, and gives you a rare, restorative pause for yourself.
Perimenopause & Menopause
Through menopause, regular massage helps with muscle aches, tension headaches, sleep, and stress — a gentle way to stay comfortable as your body changes.

What to Expect
A first registered massage therapy visit begins with a brief health history and an assessment of relevant areas, followed by treatment adapted to your pregnancy or postpartum stage and to your comfort — positioning, pressure, and technique are adjusted throughout. No referral is required to book.
