Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Do I need a doctor's referral to book?

No referral is required — you can book directly online or by phone.

Is pelvic health physiotherapy covered by insurance?

Most extended health plans include physiotherapy coverage, though the amount and any conditions vary from plan to plan. We provide direct billing for most insurance providers, and our team is glad to help you check your coverage before your first visit.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies from person to person, but most people begin to notice meaningful changes within about 6 to 8 sessions. Some concerns ease sooner, while longer-standing or more complex issues can take a little more time. After your initial assessment your physiotherapist will recommend a plan tailored to your symptoms and goals, and adjust it as you progress and your body responds.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy movement is best.

Fertility Care

Can I do pelvic floor physiotherapy alongside fertility treatments like IVF?

Yes — it's a complementary, whole-body approach that works alongside fertility treatment, not instead of it.

Do I need a fertility diagnosis to book?

No — you're welcome to book proactively as part of preparing to conceive, whether or not you have a diagnosis.

How long before trying to conceive should I start?

There's no fixed timeline. Many people start a few months ahead to give the body time to address any tension or imbalances, but it's never too late to begin.

Prenatal Care

Is it safe to start pelvic floor physiotherapy during pregnancy?

Yes — prenatal pelvic floor physiotherapy is safe and commonly recommended throughout pregnancy, with your plan adjusted to each trimester.

When should I book my first prenatal visit?

Many people start once they notice discomfort or want proactive preparation for labour; your physiotherapist can advise on timing.

Will you work with my OB or midwife?

Yes — our care is designed to complement, not replace, the care you're already receiving from your OB or midwife.

Postpartum Care

How soon after birth can I start postpartum physiotherapy?

This depends on your individual recovery and delivery — your physiotherapist will advise on the right timing at your first visit, whether you had a vaginal delivery or C-section.

I had my baby a while ago — is it too late to start?

No — postpartum pelvic floor physiotherapy can help no matter how long ago you gave birth.

Do you offer lactation support in the same visit?

Lactation and breastfeeding support is available as a related service — ask your care team about combining visits.

Pediatric Physiotherapy

What age range do you treat?

We see infants and children from 15 days old through school age.

Do I need a referral from my pediatrician?

No referral is required, though your pediatrician may also recommend an assessment if they've noticed a concern.

What if my child is anxious about the appointment?

Our sessions are designed to feel comfortable and low-pressure for children, with plenty of time for them to warm up.

Male Pelvic Health

Is this only for men who've had surgery?

No — we treat a range of concerns including chronic pelvic pain, post-vasectomy discomfort, and athletic pelvic-floor issues, not just post-surgical recovery.

Will I see a male physiotherapist?

We can accommodate practitioner preferences where possible — let our front desk know when booking.

Is this covered by insurance?

Most extended health plans cover physiotherapy regardless of the reason for treatment, and we offer direct billing.

Is it normal to feel awkward talking about this?

Completely — most people feel that way at first. These symptoms are common and treatable, and your physiotherapist talks about them every day; nothing you share will be new or shocking to them.

Menopause Management

I've never had pelvic floor issues before — why now?

Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can bring on pelvic floor symptoms for the first time, even without a prior history.

Is pessary fitting done in the same visit?

Pessary fitting is assessed individually and may be introduced once your physiotherapist has completed a full evaluation.

How long does treatment typically take to help?

This varies by individual — many people notice improvement within a few sessions, with a plan tailored to your specific symptoms.
