Why Pelvic Symptoms Can Return During Perimenopause
Declining estrogen through perimenopause and menopause affects the tissues of the pelvic floor and bladder, which is why symptoms like urgency, leakage, or prolapse can appear or worsen at this stage — even in people who never had issues after childbirth.
These symptoms are common, but they are not something you have to simply live with. Pelvic floor physiotherapy, and where appropriate pessary fitting, can meaningfully improve day-to-day comfort.
