Psychotherapy
A confidential, one-on-one space to work through anxiety, stress, grief, birth trauma, and the transitions of parenthood and midlife.
Psychotherapy is a structured talking therapy provided by a Registered Psychotherapist. Sessions give you a private, unhurried space to work through what is actually going on, rather than carrying it alone between everything else.
People often come to us during a particular chapter: the uncertainty of trying to conceive, anxiety through pregnancy, a birth that did not unfold the way it was meant to, the identity shift of early motherhood, or the mood and sleep changes that can arrive with perimenopause. Others come because stress, grief or low mood has been building for a while and is starting to shape daily life.
Your therapist works with you to understand what is contributing, then draws on evidence-informed approaches — including cognitive behavioural and mindfulness-based methods — matched to your goals and your pace. You decide what is discussed, and nothing is rushed.
Psychotherapy also sits alongside the physical care you receive here. Pelvic pain, incontinence and a slow recovery carry an emotional weight, and addressing only the physical side can leave part of the picture unattended. It complements care from your family doctor, midwife or psychiatrist, and we are glad to work as part of that wider team.
Frequency is set with you rather than fixed in advance. Some people come weekly through a difficult stretch and then taper; others book occasionally to stay steady through a known transition, such as returning to work or weaning. If at any point a different kind of support would serve you better — medication review, a specialist assessment, or a group programme — your therapist will say so and help you find it.

What to Expect
A first session is mostly conversation: what brought you in, what you have already tried, and what you would like to feel different. Together you agree on a focus and a realistic rhythm of appointments. Sessions are confidential, and you are never required to discuss anything before you are ready.
